Terruzi & Puthod Vernaccia Di San Gimignano Riserva
San Gimignano in Tuscany Italy has 1,500 hectares under vine, of which 750 are planted to Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Of its total of 94 ha of estate vineyards, Teruzzi & Puthod alone cultivates some 60 ha of Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Recent vineyard renovation has resulted in fully 45 ha being grubbed up and re-planted. As they have always have done throughout the winery’s history, today they continue to innovate. Re-plantings are being done at a higher density, even up to 6,660 vines per hectare. Greater densities result in lower crop yields per individual vine, which leads in turn to greater concentrations of compounds in the berry and therefore allows for higher levels of quality.
The grapes used is this wine are 100% Vernaccia di San Gimignano. these clusters are hand-picked, then gently pressed. They must is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel fermenters, then the wine is racked off the gross lees, and rests on the fine lees until just before bottling.
It has a luminous colour, deep straw yellow with gold highlights.
